About Mariah

I’m Mariah Hudler, author, speaker, and Financial Strategy Coach with an MBA, a background as a Social Worker (MSW), and a Certified Financial Therapist (CFT™).

I understand the fast pace of life, real-life constraints, and financial overwhelm. I also understand that with hurriedness, there is presence, with how I help busy individuals, couples, and families, especially in high-cost regions, make confident money decisions fast. From “womb to tomb” milestones (prenups and premarital, baby planning, launching a small business, retirement) to the day-to-day communication and repair, I use my Financially Flexible Method to turn overwhelm into action.

Choose a resource or book an intensive. No shame. No fluff. Just progress.

Why I’m Your Money Meets Life Person

Busy, high-cost—or just high-pressure—life squeezes both your wallet and your nervous system. After hundreds of client sessions, I’ve experienced the same trio: overwhelm, unclear priorities, and generic advice that ignores context. I blend MBA-level strategy with ACT-informed coaching to turn complexity into clear, values-aligned decisions. Whether it’s a household, a leadership team, or a conference audience, the result is the same: faster agreement, kinder conversations, and plans that fund what matters today and for the next generation.

Who I Serve

Couples (premarital & partnered) ready to get on the same page before combining lives or signing a prenup.

Parents + parents-to-be mapping baby costs, leave plans, childcare, and “who does what” without resentment.

Families in HCOL areas who want spending aligned to values, not vibes—while still enjoying their life.

Entrepreneurial/variable-income households smoothing the rollercoaster with runway, tax buckets, and rhythms.

What Powers My Coaching

Money isn’t just math, it’s meaning and nervous-system noise. I use ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Training) to help you choose by values, defuse sticky thoughts, and take small, committed actions under real-life pressure. It’s coaching, not psychotherapy—future-focused, skills-based, results-oriented.

ACT, translated for money decisions

  • Values, not vibes. Clarify what matters (security, freedom, generosity, time) so your budget and prenup reflect your shared why.
  • Make room for the feels. Stress, guilt, FOMO? We make space for them and move anyway.
  • Defuse the sticky thoughts. “We’ll never catch up,” “A prenup means no trust.” Notice the story then choose the action.
  • Be here now. Decide what’s next for this month, not every possible future.
  • Committed action, tiny steps. 1–3 testable moves you can do this week.
  • Identity that holds steady. You’re more than your salary or spending streak; that steadiness speeds decisions.

The science behind my method

I use ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Training) because it reliably builds psychological flexibility and, in turn, financial flexibility, the skill that helps you stay calm under pressure, choose by values, and take the next right financial decision step. ACT-based programs have improved stress, burnout, and performance in randomized trials, and there’s a dedicated Acceptance & Commitment Coaching literature that turns these skills into practical, non-clinical tools for decision-making and action.

The Financially Flexible Method

The Financially Flexible Method is informed by 3 pillars when it comes to creating financial strategies for clients who want to build wealth and wellbeing that is human, doable, and aligned.

Assess

Know your Values, Numbers, and Season.

Align

Live in the present moment so you can do what matters and make money decisions stick.

Act

Simple, repeatable moves to live well, spend intentionally, and stay flexible.

What I Do

I don’t provide psychotherapy in coaching containers. While my clinical background informs my approach, Intensives are strategy and skills-based. If therapy would better serve your goals, I’ll point you to options. Resources on this site are not designed to be legal, financial, or mental health advice.

A Few Human Things

  • Tea order: “numbers, but kind.”
  • Hobby: turning chaos into checklists, then going for a beach walk.
  • Hot take: FI is a direction, not a personality test.
  • Core belief: money should back your values, not boss you around.
  • Favorite win: one tiny action done today.

West Coast Financial Independence

I’m a West Coast FI-er who cares about financial independence and a life you actually enjoy. That means designing for High Cost of Living realities—housing, childcare, taxes—while keeping space for ocean walks, tacos, and time with your favorite humans. FI is a direction, not a personality.

Financial Independence (FI) means your investments and passive income can cover your living costs, so work becomes a choice, not a must. West Coast FI keeps that same goal but designs for HCOL realities—think bigger housing, childcare, and tax bills without turning life into frugality theater. It’s values-first and math-forward: optimize taxes and employer benefits, be strategic on rent vs. buy, plan for childcare/education, smooth variable income, and leave room for joy (coast walks, tacos, travel). Translation: freedom + lifestyle, built with realistic numbers and tiny, repeatable moves.
